Little Voice (1998)

After the death of her father, Little Voice or LV becomes a virtual recluse, never going out and hardly ever saying a word. She just sits in her bedroom listening to her father's collection of old records of Shirley Bassey, Marilyn Monroe and various other famous female singers. But at night time, LV sings, imitating these great singers with surprising accuracy. One night she is overheard by one of her mother's boyfriends, who happens to be a talent agent. He manages to convince her that her talent is special and arranges for her to perform at the local night club, but several problems arise.

In this scene, Herman (Little Voice) does a terrific job directing Bruno through the crowd.

Director Mark Herman ("Little Voice") had a peculiar balance to strike in adapting John Boyne's children's novel telling a fictional story of the Holocaust, but he has achieved it.
Herman's most recent effort was 2003's Hope Springs, but he's remembered more for Little Voice and Brassed Off — two small films in bright moods.
Rounding out the coop is the none-too-swift Babs (Jane Horrocks, Little Voice ), and the scientifically disposed Mack, who sports thick glasses and an even thicker Scottish brogue.
Gibson (Braveheart) gives Rocky an energetic Yankee accent that contrasts perfectly with the sweet British tones of Sawalha (Absolutely Fabulous) and Horrocks (Little Voice) as Ginger and Babs.
This sincerity is most evident in Jane Horrocks , who was so appealing in 1998's Little Voice and was born to play Babs, a chicken who knits all the time.
Also less than satisfying is the subplot involving Jim Broadbent ("Topsy-Turvy," "Little Voice") and Gemma Jones ("The Winslow Boy," "Sense and Sensibility") as Bridget's parents whose marriage is on the rocks.
