What critics compared Wild Wild West to
The results — Heaven’s Gate, Wild Wild West, Cowboys & Aliens and The Lone Ranger — served to prove that the western is a genre cherished by all moviemakers and almost no current moviegoers.
At one point the action got so out of hand and chaotic that I thought the giant mechanical spider from Will Smith's "Wild Wild West" debacle was going to enter the fray.
He’s played by Bradley Cooper, rampaging through his role as future “A Star Is Born” and “Wild Wild West” producer Jon Peters like a horny T-1000 in a sequence of such anarchic splendor that its 20 minutes alone are enough to make “Licorice Pizza” one of the very best movies of the year.
It is a classic of the “weird western” genre, that Frankenstein mode of storytelling in which the mythic heroics and visual tropes of the western get mixed with some other genre—the classic example of this, for American audiences, being the cyberpunk-inflected Wild Wild West franchise.

Directed by Guy Ritchie (2002's " Swept Away ") and written by first-timer Michael Robert Johnson, Anthony Peckham (2001's " Don't Say a Word ") and Simon Kinberg (2008's " Jumper "), the picture it most uncannily resembles is " Wild Wild West ," the notorious 1999 bomb that not even Will Smith could turn into a hit.
My mind kept flipping to Artemus (sic) Gordon, the gadget-master of TV’s Wild Wild West, partly because the Nurse wields newfangled medical gizmos (such as a 3-D organ printer), and partly because the L.A. we see on Wednesday, June 21, 2028, the movie’s highly specific kick-off date, really is The Wild Wild West.

Classics like “The Flintstones” and “Wild Wild West” were mangled by studio stupidity, with filmmakers stripping out the original’s creative soul and replacing it with bloated excess.
The actor simply doesn't fare well in period pieces (with the notable exception of " Hot Tub Time Machine "), and it doesn't help that the film's attention to detail is more "Wild Wild West" than "Downton Abbey".
