The lethal Reaper virus spreads throughout Britain—infecting millions and killing hundreds of thousands. Authorities brutally and successfully quarantine the country but, three decades later, the virus resurfaces in a major city. An elite group of specialists is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.

What critics compared Doomsday to
With a set-up that feels inspired by John Carpenter’s Escape From New York and Neil Marshall’s Doomsday , crossed with a gritty heist flick, Peninsula already has the makings of something special.
The rest of the time Marshall appears to have been studying under the tutelage of notorious hack director Paul W.S. Anderson ( Resident Evil , Event Horizon ) as the majority of Doomsday is as brainless as any one of Anderson's pantheon of forgettable works.
Other films have tried to do this, but to little use (See Neil Marshall’s derivative Doomsday as proof).
I say this, and then observe that Mitra is set to replace Kate Beckinsale in the third Underworld movie, and it makes me feel like my puppy just died.
In fact, Mitra owns the movie throughout, channeling Kate Beckinsale from the Underworld series.

And then there's the future-shock thread that plays like the lovechild of Cast Away and Neil Marshall's Doomsday as Tom Hanks, doing his best backwoods idiot Nell , leads an Eloi (Halle Berry, still black) up the side of a haunted mountain to Contact a lost tribe in a Blade Runner off-world.
