Reign of Fire (2002)

In post-apocalyptic England, an American volunteer and a British survivor team up to fight off a brood of fire-breathing dragons seeking to return to global dominance after centuries of rest underground. The Brit—leading a clan of survivors to hunt down the King of the Dragons—has much at stake: his mother was killed by a dragon, but his love is still alive.

It is also, however, a classical dragonslayer film in every sense, completing a natural evolution that has been in the making since the early '80s, with "Dragonslayer" and "Q: The Winged Serpent," and continuing with director Rob Cohen's more recent "Dragonheart."
A young boy named Quinn visits his mother (Alice Krige, whom some may remember as the Borg queen in Star Trek: First Contact ) at an underground construction site in London, where her colleagues have inadvertently stumbled onto the lair of a hibernating computer-generated dragon.
So, when you tell someone you're going to see a movie about Vikings fighting an alien, everyone chuckles, but cowriter (with his "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" partner Dirk Blackman)/director Howard McCain's film isn't half bad, like "Reign of Fire" crossed with "Beowulf" spiced with a dash of "Alien."
There's no denying that the dragon in the film is one of, if not the best dragon to ever be used in a movie (sorry Dragonheart and Reign of Fire).
