Here that quality comes to practically define the aesthetic, pushed to an extreme that, once the prospect of violence enters the picture, makes it seem ripped from Dressed to Kill .
Writer/director Rick Famuyiwa's ("The Wood") high energy comedy does a neat flip, taking an upstanding student of a single mom (Kimberly Elise, "For Colored Girls") from a tough Black neighborhood who wants to get into Harvard but doesn't want to write about his 'cliched' life, then puts him through the paces of bad boy cliches while maintaining his integrity.
Eddie Murphy steals more than a few ideas from Tyler Perry ("Madea’s Family Reunion") for his multi-character comedy that has Murphy playing an obese wench named Rasputia, to whom Norbit (Murphy) is married.

Arriving in theaters sans screenings for critics, the latest release from Lionsgate’s CodeBlack Films division could be glibly dismissed as “Tyler Perry’s Unfaithful,” if Perry hadn’t already been down a similar perils-of-infidelity road with the execrable “Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.”
Crystal tries to hide the children's father, Beau Willie (Michael Ealy, "Seven Pounds," "Takers"), asleep in the bedroom, but he comes out and acts in a threatening manner.
