If you had problems with Wild Wild West , Ghost Rider , or Constantine , wait for said problems to be amplified by a movie that distills elements of all three and more into a horribly miscast, painfully edited train wreck of a summer action flick that’s notable only for the fact that it may enter and exit the public consciousness faster than anything else this year.
Review in a Hurry: Not unlike Ghost Rider, Jonah Hex takes a gothic, moody, western-inspired comic book, and eliminates all traces of subtlety in the awkward transition to the big screen.
This puts it in the sorry company of movies like "Ghost Rider" and "The Punisher," where grim humor and single-minded vengeance substitute for heroics.
As a superhero movies go, it's generic in a way that recalls the pre-Avengers bad old days ( Green Lantern , Green Hornet , Jonah Hex ) – without any personal style, unique tone, or interesting atmosphere.
As the origin story proceeds, Jenkins’s period-set action scenes slip into rip-offs of Captain America, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Hellboy , and Jonah Hex .
When it doesn’t, you get the next Speed Racer or Jonah Hex or Lone Ranger — which is exactly what Warcraft will end up becoming.
