It seems unfair to compare most any movie to Kind Hearts and Coronets and The Ladykillers or to Touch of Evil, but this one begs for such through, for example, specific reference to that latter, also 1950s Welles thriller.

That face belongs to Rory Kinnear, pulling off enough roles to rival Alec Guinness in Kind Hearts and Coronets , Peter Sellers in Dr. Strangelove , or, if you want to get really granular, Dick Van Dyke in the ‘Inheritance Death’ episode of Diagnosis Murder .
Despite its Twitter bait of a title, despite its tendency to feel more like a conversation-starter than a fully realized vision, and even despite its winking #NotAllMen of a conceit — which finds actor Rory Kinnear offering an amusingly hellish twist on the old Alec Guinness routine from “Kind Hearts and Coronets” by playing all but one of the male roles — “Men” is less of a supernatural pivot towards social commentary than it is an uncharacteristically grounded step closer towards the heart of Garland’s usual obsession: Self-identity in the face of the singularity.
“Knives Out” leaves them bamboozled and marooned, but, if that response strikes you as insufficiently robust, I recommend “Kind Hearts and Coronets.”
The two most notable actors in the second category are Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers, and it is in their company that Sacha Baron Cohen belongs, though he has yet to make his Kind Hearts and Coronets or Dr Strangelove .

I think of it as more akin to old Ealing Studios comedies like Kind Hearts and Coronets or The Ladykillers, where the plotters are so ridiculous and prone to failure, you can hardly take their criminal plans seriously.
Of course, the title of this British comedy indicates that we will not get another “Kind Hearts and Coronets.”
With their mix of upper-class pomposity and casual bloodshed, the Le Domas family calls to mind a rich tradition of blackhearted drawing room farces, from Kind Hearts and Coronets to Clue.
