The main antagonists are a grown-up school bully and a snobbish frat boy, played respectively by wrestling legend ''Stone Cold'' Steve Austin and Twilight's Taylor Lautner.
And Roberts is backed by the muscle of none other than "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
I can’t speak to the manga that inspired it, but Cameron, Rodriguez and third screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis give us settings, characters and story elements from “Blade Runner,” “Robocop” and “Rollerball,” all hanging from the framework of Cameron’s TV series, “Dark Angel.”
But the film, which also has thematic ties to Cameron’s 2000 TV series “Dark Angel,” is more like a two-hour-plus derivative exercise in the constant repetition of ultra-violent CG battle scenes that secured a PG-13 rating because the film’s gladiators are not human.

The sniper has been portrayed in other films from Mark Wahlberg’s “Shooter” to Tom Berenger’s “Sniper” and “Sniper 2.” Chris Kyle was real and his story was told in his autobiography, “American Sniper,” adapted here by Jason Dean Hall, plus directed by Clint Eastwood.
That film left audiences expecting Wick to wage an all-out war against the overlords who wanted him dead in what could have been the most thrilling labor-versus-capitalist narrative since the ’90s, when WWF’s “Stone Cold” Steve Austin laid hands on his billionaire degenerate boss Vince McMahon.
He’s also one of the guys behind Marvel’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the little-seen action film The Package with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Dolph Lundgren, which is when I first heard of him.

Plot
It feels like a mashup of “Storm of the Century” (1999) and “The Wandering Earth” (2019) meets “The Jetsons” à la “Captain America: The First Avenger” (2011).
Whether it’s The OA with the similarly hospital-gown-clad Prairie possessing magical powers, or horror films as in The Exorcist, The Ring, or Rose Red, this archetype forces women into the box labeled Other.
