Plot
Of course, any “rescue” operation headed by the likes of Ted Levine is not to be trusted right off the bat and indeed, it transpires that Owen and Claire have been lured under false pretenses and the dinosaurs are being shipped not to a safe place but to a destination I dare not reveal except to note that viewers who recall the great, if underrated, Marlon Brando comedy “The Freshman” may find themselves flashing back to one of its loopiest moments at a key point.
The plot, which puts Broderick's guileless young Clark through a series of comically interlocked disasters, recalls the Rube Goldberg-nightmare scenario of Martin Scorsese's After Hours.
It's like Griffin Dunne's ordeal in "After Hours," only considerably less nightmarish.
Striptease with Demi Moore is a non-starter, for her ass, although enviable, didn’t possess any powers—evil or good—that I could detect.
Those with long memories might remember Demi Moore in Striptease (1996) and Elizabeth Berkley in the unfairly maligned Showgirls (1995), with which Hustlers bears some similarity, though only in its flash and dazzle.
Phil could have saved his speeches and just shown Doug a double feature of Honeymoon In Vegas and Very Bad Things as a warning.

It also helps, since this is basically a comedy, that Cage’s manic timing (as in Honeymoon in Vegas, for one) really works in making the best lines in Gormican and co-writer Kevin Etten’s script work, especially the inside industry jokes peppered throughout.
Seeing Cage skulking around Las Vegas in the opening scenes recalls his earlier "Honeymoon in Vegas" and "Leaving Las Vegas."
