After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop and Rocksteady, to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.

What critics say influenced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
Then there’s Edwin Starr’s “War” which brings to mind Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan in Rush Hour .
I found the film's most entertaining element to be Laura Linney, a serious actress playing a police honcho, thus filling the Frances McDormand-in-"Transformers" role or, if you want to be more cult, the Joan Allen-in-"Death Race" role.
The sequence itself is the most lively in the film, but it emulates moments in other, stronger movies, like 2014’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and neither of those are particularly great moments in cinema.
In contrast, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" is soulless, by-committee tripe, director Dave Green (showing such promise with 2014's " Earth to Echo ") and screenwriters Josh Appelbaum & André Nemec (2011's " Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol ") concocting an unctuously busy follow-up that never takes a breather long enough to concern itself with the peoplehumans as well as reptilesinvolved.One year ago, crime-fighting adolescent turtles Leonardo (Pete Ploszek), Raphael (Alan Ritchson), Donatello (Jeremy Howard) and Michelangelo (Noel Fisher) saved New York City from the dangerous Foot Clan syndicate, tidily putting away nefarious leader Shredder (Brian Tee) in the process.

The brawny Raphael (Alan Ritchson, of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”) wants to be accepted by humankind.
