The Hangover Part II (2011)

The Hangover crew heads to Thailand for Stu's wedding. After the disaster of a bachelor party in Las Vegas last year, Stu is playing it safe with a mellow pre-wedding brunch. However, nothing goes as planned and Bangkok is the perfect setting for another adventure with the rowdy group.

What critics compared The Hangover Part II to
Phillips, cinematographer Lawrence Sher (who has shot all of Phillip’s films since The Hangover Part II in 2011), and production designer Mark Friedberg (a veteran collaborator of Wes Anderson and Jim Jarmusch) work hard to evoke the grit and grime and despondency of late ’70s urban squalor, making it even worse by setting the film during a garbage strike.

The reason why they can pull this off–while a movie like “The Hangover Part II” couldn’t–is because the bromantic chemistry between Tatum and Hill still works exceedingly well.
Being funny is hard work, and once you’ve captured that magic, it’s hard to do it a second time — just ask anyone involved with “The Hangover Part II” or “Meet the Fockers” (or either of those franchise’s third installments).
So why doesn’t “22 Jump Street” come off as a tired rehash in the manner of “The Hangover Part II”?
But "Neighbors 2" - like "The Hangover Part II" - just repeats all of it, set-up for set-up, punchline for punchline.
If 2009's " The Hangover " and its unbearably ill-advised 2011 rehash-cum-sequel " The Hangover Part II " are any indication of Phillips' barometer for quality, probably not.
