Assuming the chair of dubious honor this time is Bill Condon, a long way from the sunnier days of Gods and Monsters and Kinsey.
Even the addition of an Oscar-winning director in Bill Condon (“Kinsey,” “Gods and Monsters”) fails to save what is essentially a padded-out tale of all-consuming love and loyalty.
So stretching out the conclusion is understandable – in box-office terms – with Bill Condon (“Gods and Monsters,” “Kinsey,” ”Dreamgirls”) helming the final two installments.
The director for this installment of the series is Bill Condon , who, way before he helmed such distinguished dramatic fare as " Kinsey ," had a hand in crafting a couple of pretty subversive teen-based horror and sci-fi movies, " Strange Behavior " and " Strange Invaders ."
PHOTOS: "TWILIGHT" STARS IN OTHER FILMS Director Bill Condon (“Kinsey,” “Dreamgirls”) hits his stride at the film’s start with a satisfyingly lavish spectacle, starring an awkward Bella teetering down the aisle in high heels (and trying not to dwell on her Boschian nightmare of the night before, in which she and Edward leer over a wedding-cake-shaped pile of guests’ bloody bodies).
Anyway, I harbored hopes, since both Breaking Dawn movies (Part 2 materializes next November) are directed by Twi-newbie Bill Condon, a first-rate director of indisputable talent (see Gods and Monsters , Kinsey and Dreamgirls ).
