What critics compared 27 Dresses to
In 2008 it was "27 Dresses."
And, apparently, Hollywood has a bottomless pit of this drivel from which to feed that gaping, witless maw – with films like “27 Dresses,” “The Ugly Truth,” “New in Town” – and now this film.
Like this one, for example, seems less horrible than the others simply because the main female character isn't humiliated and degraded (see stats below) and stupidly obsessed with her wedding at the expense of all other thought quite as much as the women in films like, say, 27 Dresses or Bride Wars.
Scanlon blends the lower-key hangout vibe of ‘90s rom-coms like When Harry Met Sally and Four Weddings And A Funeral with the glossy, heightened aesthetic of post-aughts fare like 27 Dresses and How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days .

Heigl ( Knocked Up , 27 Dresses ) stars in her third comedy in a similar role, as an overachiever careerist with no time for romance in her life.
A stellar turn in Judd Apatow's pregnancy hit Knocked Up , followed by wedding comedy 27 Dresses proved that she could more than hold her own on the big screen, but teamed with man's man Gerard Butler, best known for macho roles in 300 and RocknRolla , can she still deliver?
In "27 Dresses," she was literally the bridesmaid, never the bride.
Much like the characters Heigl played in Knocked Up and 27 Dresses, Abby is an anal, uptight control freak who works herself into a panic over the thought that she might never land a decent man.
Take Katherine Heigl ’s uptight TV character from “ Knocked Up ,” pit her against a cynical chauvinist not unlike her foil in “ 27 Dresses ,” then sit back and watch the magic happen.
Imagine if “27 Dresses” had gone down like THAT.

Possessing dialogue that is smart, generally keeping its comedy above the more obvious styles of humour, credit goes to writer Dan Fogelman (Cars, Tangled, Bolt), as his success on this raises anticipation further for next work, My Mother’s Curse, to be directed by Anne Fletcher (Step Up, 27 Dresses, The Proposal).
But when those cuts includes overused or outdated choices like "Song For Zula" by Phosphorescent (see also "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and "The Spectacular Now") and Bloc Party's "So Here We Are" (used on "One Tree Hill" twice, Katherine Heigl's "27 Dresses"), not to mention a closing credit song by omnipresent soundtrack emotional shorthand Bon Iver.
