After losing Captain Jack Sparrow to the locker of Davy Jones, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, and Captain Barbossa journey to the ends of the earth to rescue him. And as the East India Trading Company tightens its grip on the seas under Lord Cutler Beckett—now in control of Davy Jones—the fate of piracy hangs by a thread. But that leaves more than two hours (aka "the running time of Captain Blood ") of punishing dialogue sequences, which call to mind another franchise that was born out of a sincere desire to update the classic genre films of long ago with state-of-the-art effects, before turning into a flabby epic of political economics; and when you find yourself reminded of Stars Wars: Episode I while watching a movie, that is a fairly unanswerable argument that the movie you are watching has gone seriously wrong.
By managing to turn a Disney theme park ride into a major movie franchise, director Gore Verbinski and his collaborators, Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, have managed to do an unintentional remake of Gilliam's “The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.”
After the credits rolled I felt like entering the theater lobby and doing my best impression of Leslie Nielsen in The Naked Gun , as the fireworks store blows up in the background: “Please disperse, there’s nothing to see here!”

At the end of Dead Man's Chest, Depp's Jack Sparrow succumbed to an untimely demise at the hands of the Kraken -- a setback a la Han Solo's carbon storage at the end of The Empire Strikes Back.
One of those members is Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), last seen being consumed by the Kraken, and so they form a crew and consult mystic Tia Dalma (Naomie Harris, "Miami Vice") to arrive as "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End."
Providing further proof of the enduring legacy of a certain Jedi�s Return, Pirates 3 picks up (as did The Matrix Revolutions) with our heroes seeking out a way to save a friend they lost at the end of the last chapter.

While there is plenty to wrap your skulls around to either praise or scorn At World�s End, I was struck by how much it had in common with another film about a changing civilization, that being Mel Gibson�s Apocalypto.
