The Invasion (2007)

Washington, D.C. psychologist Carol Bennell and her colleague Dr. Ben Driscoll are the only two people on Earth who are aware of an epidemic running rampant through the city. They discover an alien virus aboard a crashed space shuttle that transforms anyone who comes into contact with it into unfeeling drones while they sleep. Carol realizes her son holds the key to stopping the spread of the plague and she races to find him before it is too late.

What critics compared The Invasion to
No one could dare ape this aesthetic style and match it, so director Luca Guadagnino (2017's " Call Me by Your Name ") and screenwriter David Kajganich (2007's " The Invasion ") have made the wise decision to take their remake in an entirely new direction.
The story borrows from Jack Finney's "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," which has been filmed several times -- by Don Siegel in 1956, Philip Kaufman in 1978 and Abel Ferrara in 1993, and more recently, but less successfully, by the Wachowskis as "The Invasion" in 2007.
