Plus, to the script’s credit, Lily is not only an educated doctor, but also a remarkably capable woman; she’s nowhere near to the typical damsels-in-distress often found in these pictures (resulting in a number of jokes on behalf of her attire, and the shock of a woman being in places reserved for men, like in the final moments of “Around the World in 80 Days”).

But the stand-outs are Stiller 's old pal Owen Wilson (who isn’t credited in the film) and Steve Coogan ( Around the World in 80 Days ) as miniaturized figurines— Wilson ’s a Old West diorama cowboy, Coogan , a warmongering Roman emperor—who are constantly at odds with one another.
He doesn't get the screen time some of the presold fanboys expected, which is neither here nor there; "Suicide Squad" is saddled with a bigger cast of characters than "Around the World in 80 Days."
On the other hand, Commander William Xu (Daniel Wu: Around the World in 80 Days ) and marine biologist Dr. Katya Petrovna (Karolina Wydra) seem to be dealing with the stress of the mission quite well…
In Up, the blockbuster moments that should be of Around the World in 80 Days proportions are instead surprisingly uninventive.
