What critics compared The Life of David Gale to
They are, however, notoriously difficult to get right, as are Death Row movies – for every Dead Man Walking, there’s a Green Mile or The Chamber or that really awful one with Sharon Stone that no-one remembers (Last Dance).
But, that’s not all, as director Edward Zwick, who co-wrote the screenplay with his longtime partner Marshall Herskovitz and Charles Randolph (The Life of David Gale), wants the film to be all things to all people.
When you add screenwriter Charles Randolph to the mix, whose script for "The Life Of David Gale" is just mind-bogglingly bad, I must admit I was nervous walking into " Love and Other Drugs " tonight.
Now they’re exploring a more romantic relationship courtesy of director Edward Zwick (hewing closer to his debut “About Last Night” than his usual epics like “Glory” and “The Last Samurai”) and co-writer Charles Randolph (“The Life of David Gale”), adapting Jamie Reidy’s pharmaceutical memoir “Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman.”
Co-written by Charles Randolph (“The Life of David Gale,” “The Interpreter”) and director Edward Zwick and partner Marshall Herskovitz (“Blood Diamond,” “The Last Samurai,” etc.) and based on a book by Jamie Reidy, “Love and Other Drugs” is a stiff.
Co-writing with Charles Randolph (“The Life of David Gale”), McKay seems as comfortable making a slick, fact-based comedy as he did making the loosey-goosey Ferrell movies.
