Riding the wave of a musical revolution, Wilson and his friends create the legendary Factory Records label and The Hacienda club.

What critics compared 24 Hour Party People to
“The Big Short” falls short on greatness, but it remains righteously furious and playful, even if it borrows one of its best tricks, fourth wall asides, from “24 Hour Party People.”
When financial wheeler dealer David Hirshon (Steve Coogan, "24 Hour Party People," "Hamlet 2") comes under suspicion however, Gamble's got a bead on a dozen scaffolding violations and springs into action while Hoitz rolls his eyes wondering when they'll ever break away from being known as "The Other Guys."
However, it's surprising that proven director Michael Winterbottom (" 24 Hour Party People ") would be the one attempting to make a mainstream pornographic movie.
Even though Winterbottom ( 24 Hour Party People , In This World ) has gone on record defending his art, it's clear that he has made nothing more than a porn movie, and not a very good one.
The structurally simple "9 Songs," which runs a suggestive 69 minutes, may not have the layers of Winterbottom's best films, such as "Code 46" and "24 Hour Party People," but it's superbly executed just the same.
Whether it's "24 Hour Party People," his vibrant homage to the music scene in 1970s Manchester, or "In This World," a searing fiction-documentary drama about immigration and the contradictions of globalization, Winterbottom has dutifully--and artfully--carried on the British social-realist tradition of his compatriots Tony Richardson and Ken Loach.
In Michael Winterbottom’s “24 Hour Party People”, a film about the London music and club scene of the 1970s and 80s, the Tony Wilson character claims that it was the invention of broccoli that funded the James Bond films.

Similar to Michael Winterbottom’s 24 Hour Party People (2002) – in a scene that playful paraphrases John Ford’s The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) – where the audience is directly told ‘When you have to choose between the truth and the legend, print the legend’, Life of Pi favours the legend.
What Tristran doesn’t know is that his father (Brit TV actor Nathaniel Parker) crossed this wall years earlier (played by newcomer Ben Barnes) and had a dalliance with a witch’s slave (Kate Magowan, 24 Hour Party People), the result of which was Tristran himself.
