After getting into a car accident while drunk on the day of her sister's wedding, Gwen Cummings is given a choice between prison or a rehab center. She chooses rehab, but is extremely resistant to taking part in any of the treatment programs they have to offer, refusing to admit that she has an alcohol addiction.

Not to be mistaken for a sequel to the Sandra Bullock drunk drama "28 Days," Danny Boyle's "28 Days Later..." is more a remake--or a nod to, or let's be honest here and call it a complete rip-off--of George A. Romero's apocalyptic horror masterpiece "Dawn of the Dead" (a superior sequel to his 1968 nightmare "Night of the Living Dead").
While recent years have given us Krisha, Rachel Getting Married and Flight as stories of people battling different types of addiction, you need to look as far back as the year 2000 to land on 28 Days as a major film focusing solely on addiction and disease recovery.
Lending adequate support are Mark Addy (1997's "The Full Monty") and Alan Tudyk (2000's "28 Days"), as William's lovable sidekicks; Paul Bettany (1998's "The Land Girls"), very funny as writer Geoffrey Chaucer, who becomes William's spokesperson; Laura Fraser (1999's "Titus"), as a canny, resourceful peasant girl who befriends William; and Rufus Sewell (1998's "Dark City") as the token bad guy, and William's competing nemesis.
