The Borrowers (1997)

The four-inch-tall Clock family secretly share a house with the normal-sized Lender family, "borrowing" such items as thread, safety pins, batteries and scraps of food. However, their peaceful co-existence is disturbed when evil lawyer Ocious P. Potter steals the will granting title to the house, which he plans to demolish in order to build apartments. The Lenders are forced to move, and the Clocks face the risk of being exposed to the normal-sized world.

Instead, director Peter Hewitt ("The Borrowers") simply pummels the final creative breath out of a comic strip empire.
The movie also comes as an unhappy surprise because in 1997 the director, Peter Hewitt, made a pretty decent family picture from Mary Norton's novel "The Borrowers."
What we get, from director Peter Hewitt (“The Borrowers”), is a straightforward adaptation of Jon Davis’s popular feline character’s antics that combines pretty slick CGI with live action.
Tom Felton ("Anna and the King," "The Borrowers"), Robbie Coltrane ("The World is Not Enough," "Message in a Bottle"), Alan Rickman ("Galaxy Quest," "Die Hard"), Maggie Smith ("Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood," "Gosford Park"), and the late Richard Harris ("The Count of Monte Cristo," "Gladiator") also reprise their respective roles, but the latter three don't get as much screen time as I would have liked to have seen (although I realize this isn't their story).
Younger sister Ginny Weasley's (Bonnie Wright) crush on Harry is established and we're introduced to Mr. Weasley (Mark Williams, "The Borrowers").
