Childlike Englishman, Mr. Bean, is an incompetent watchman at the Royal National Gallery. After the museum's board of directors' attempt to have him fired is blocked by the chairman, who has taken a liking to Bean, they send him to Los Angeles to act as their ambassador for the unveiling of a historic painting to humiliate him. Fooled, Mr. Bean must now successfully unveil the painting or risk his and a hapless Los Angeles curator's termination.

Written by Richard Curtis, who penned Bean and the aforementioned Four Weddings, this story is cute but a little light on meaning, like those two.
As with its predecessor, the key to this film's considerable charm is the script by Richard Curtis, his first solo credit (he collaborated on "Bean") since "Four Weddings."
Curtis is exceptional at bringing wit and humor into his films such as Two Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones, Bean and many more.
He was nominated for an Academy Award, among other plaudits, and went on to pen the scripts for Bean, Notting Hill and Bridget Jones’s Diary.
