What critics compared Waiting for Guffman to
Arterial spatter, aerial “bat fight” and occasional projectile vomiting aside, the vampire comedy “What We Do in the Shadows” is a very civilized mockumentary that takes its cues from Christopher Guest (“Waiting for Guffman,” “Best in Show”) rather than from Sacha Baron Cohen (“Borat”).
What We Do In The Shadows is wonderfully dry and irreverent, playing out something like True Blood by way of Waiting For Guffman.
"The Blair Witch Project" is a pseudo-documentary, but throw out any preconceptions borne of movies like "This Is Spinal Tap" and "Waiting for Guffman."
Not since Waiting for Guffman have I laughed this hard at a film comedy, which was entirely unexpected, for I never imagined Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg as a funny couple.
There are also moments where it’s not entirely clear they weren’t making a Waiting for Guffman-style comedy.

It tries to be a British version of a Christopher Guest film, but as directed by Debbie Isitt, it is nowhere near as funny as Best in Show, A Mighty Wind or Waiting for Guffman.
