The Mask (1994)

Timid bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss discovers a magical mask infused with the spirit of the Norse god Loki. Donning it transforms him into an unrestrained, green-faced, cartoon-like wild man. While the mask grants him the confidence to woo a local singer, it also makes him the target of a ruthless mobster.

The breakthrough of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" (1988) was the way it permitted actor Bob Hoskins to blend almost seamlessly with the denizens of the " 'toon" world.
And in a page torn from "It's a Wonderful Life," he is about to jump from the rail when he notices a body and dives to the rescue.
An eye-boinging apparition with a big green grin, The Mask owes as much to Jack Nicholson's Joker in "Batman" as he does to the 'toonsmiths at Warner Bros. He's not quite as mean-spirited, but he is capable of exacting vengeance from those who have wronged the nebbishy Stanley.
The other is Robin Williams' genie from Aladdin come to life (Carrey provides dozens of whirlwind impersonations).
