When Phoenix escapes 36 years later to wreak havoc on the future, Spartan is awakened to capture his nemesis the old-fashioned way.

What critics compared Demolition Man to
All the while the dialogue even has fun referencing other famous time-travel romps like “Back to the Future” and “Demolition Man.”
Whatever the case, the white hair and the severe haircut result in Jackson looking like a cross between Wesley Snipes in Demolition Man (1993) and the old guy on the Cream of Wheat box.
The movie is a brazen scavenging of such dystopian forebears as Escape from New York, Outland, and Demolition Man, among a number of others that spring instantly to mind.
Both the Waters brothers made a splash with their initial public offerings (Mark with the fantastic The House of Yes, Daniel with Heathers ), but while Daniel's portfolio is sprinkled with lead balloons like The Adventures of Ford Fairlane and the fitfully interesting Demolition Man, he did score with Batman Returns; Mark, alas, has a Freddie Prinze Jr./Monica Potter, a Jason Priestly/Mariel Hemingway, and a pair of Lohans in his deck, making The House of Yes an anomaly, it seems--as outcast from its comrades as Waters' imperfect characters are from his vision of a perversely stolid normality.

Director Mikael Håfström ("Evil," "1408") applies more gloss than Stallone's cheesier "Expendables" franchise while production designer Barry Chusid ("Source Code") serves up a high tech prison facility that's like a futuristic nod to Stallone's honeycombed "Demolition Man" deep freeze.
Stallone was, similarly, sent away in Demolition Man (1993), Judge Dredd (1995), First Blood (1982), and Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985).
Abandoning his usual safety protocols for the gig, Breslin is promptly double-crossed and left to rot in an impressively designed next-gen dungeon straight out of “Demolition Man,” with beehives of glass cells and jackbooted guards wearing black Guy Fawkes masks.
