Wallace and Gromit have run out of cheese, and this provides an excellent excuse for the duo to take their holiday to the moon, where, as everyone knows, there is ample cheese.

What critics compared A Grand Day Out to
Granted, codirectors David Bowers and Sam Fell, both of who share story credit with two of the film's five credited screenwriters, are debuting directors, but Aardman's Nick Park scored two Oscar nominations and one win for his first two shorts back in 1989 ("A Grand Day Out," Wallace and Gromit's introduction, and "Creature Comforts").
There is a delicious movie, “ A Grand Day Out ” (1990), about going to the moon and returning safely, though pedants might say that it lacks historical roots, since the astronauts are Wallace and Gromit.
