During World War II, a brave, patriotic American Soldier undergoes experiments to become a new supersoldier, "Captain America". Racing to Germany to sabotage the rockets of Nazi baddie "Red Skull", Captain America winds up frozen until the 1990s. He reawakens to find that the Red Skull has changed identities and is now planning to kidnap the President of the United States.

What critics compared Captain America to
Much of “Captain America” will remind you of “Inglourious Basterds” with Captain America leading a motley crew of soldiers behind Nazi lines to attack and destroy manufacturing plants for a super-weapon that would turn the tide in Hitler’s favor.
Yet their scenes barely tug my heartstrings the way Steve Rogers and Bucky’s friendship did in the first Captain America .
In terms of selflessness, it’s right up there with Steve Rogers throwing himself on what he thinks is a live grenade way back in the first Captain America movie.
Most of these heroes including Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk were co-created by legendary comics artist Jack Kirby (who also had a hand in Iron Mans design).

Back in 1989 when “Batman” hit it big, we were cursed with such crap as “Captain America,” “The Punisher” and “The Flash” television show.
Wesley Snipes played a sword-wielding vampire in Blade (1998), Samuel L. Jackson voiced Frozone in The Incredibles (2004) and Anthony Mackie was Falcon in the Captain America movies.
It brings together characters from other Marvel movie franchises, including “Captain America,” “Black Panther,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Spider-Man,” “Doctor Strange” and more.

The recently concluded “Harry Potter” franchise was proof of that, and “Captain America” taps into a similar self-awareness of its role in a larger story arc that will be appreciated by comic book fans without alienating mainstream audiences.
The movie opens in 1989, with a digitally de-aged Michael Douglas strolling into an intelligence-gathering fortress and facing down some powerful frenemies, among them Tony Stark’s dad ( John Slattery ), a still-lovely-in-middle-age Peggy Carter (“Agent Carter” to “Captain America” and TV fans) and new sneery dude Mitchell Carson ( Martin Donovan ).
