But the main villain still feels weak like before (and keeps reminding me of the horned demon character in the old Tom Cruise movie "Legend").
It was obvious that Whedon didn’t care about Justice League ’s themes any more than Ridley Scott cared about the issues of his visually astonishing Legend (1982).
Indeed, from the beginning of the colour-drenched prologue, it's clear the film owes more to cinematic fever-dreams like Ridley Scott's Legend and Walter Murch's Return To Oz than the not-so-magical realism of 21st century fantasy like the Harry Potter franchise.

Hogan's film is pitched somewhere between the director's cut of Ridley Scott's Legend and the ravaged theatrical version of the same, a picture at war with itself between the desire to present the source faithfully black and the instinct (or financial imperative) to appease a popular perception of the story as one without edges, a schizophrenia underscored by James Newton Howard's light-hearted musical accompaniment to the film's murder and eroticism--misdirection akin, almost, to the attendant banjo music in the rape sequences of Last House on the Left.
Since then it has sold millions of copies all around the globe, did for clowns what Jaws did for sharks and spawned an Emmy-winning miniseries in 1990 that gave star Tim Curry another signature role up there with Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Darkness in Legend .
But oddly, the Scott movie Sanders seems to have studied the closest is the director’s epic 1985 folly, Legend , with its new-agey hodgepodge of demons and goblins and Tom Cruise communing with a white unicorn.
Nor are they the graceful and tragic trophies of Darkness (Tim Curry) in Legend (1985).
