Night Shift (1982)

A nebbish of a morgue attendant gets shunted back to the night shift where he is shackled with an obnoxious neophyte partner who dreams of the "one great idea" for success. His life takes a bizarre turn when a prostitute neighbor complains about the loss of her pimp. His partner, upon hearing the situation, suggests that they fill that opening themselves using the morgue at night.

What critics compared Night Shift to
And in Rob Corddry's hilariously manic turn, it has the most memorable showcase for a goofball co-star since Michael Keaton in 1982's "Night Shift."
One passing-of-time montage later and when we next see Arthur (now played by Charlie Hunnam), he is still at the brothel and is, for all intents and purposes, the house pimp, albeit one so benevolent that he makes the guys in “Night Shift” seem like the guy from “Hardcore” by comparison.
The film is an adaptation of a Stephen King novella, and it's the fourth time Darabont has adapted one of King's works (the first was a short "The Woman in the Room" from a collection of adaptations from King's short story anthology Night Shift).
That's the starting point for "Wedding Crashers," an unapologetically raunchy and frequently hilarious farce that, at first, seems to have been designed as a salute to the "hey, dude, let's party!" pictures of 20 years ago ("Bachelor Party," "Risky Business," "Night Shift," etc.).

This is Keaton in a modified huckster mode, in the vein of the morgue-headquartered pimp he played in one of his first movies, Night Shift.
Even operating at only half power, Howard has produced work more watchable than that of most directors, nothing-to-sneeze-at entertainments such as Night Shift , Parenthood , The Paper (which foreshadowed the current print journalism crisis) and The Missing .
None exude the energy or personality of his small but wonderfully entertaining films from the '80s (Night Shift, Splash, Cocoon, Parenthood).
