Slaughterhouse-Five (1972)

Billy Pilgrim, a veteran of the Second World War, finds himself mysteriously detached from time, so that he is able to travel, without being able to help it, from the days of his childhood to those of his peculiar life on a distant planet called Tralfamadore, passing through his bitter experience as a prisoner of war in the German city of Dresden, over which looms the inevitable shadow of an unspeakable tragedy.

What critics compared Slaughterhouse-Five to
Certain aspects are reminiscent of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five and Mother Night.
But Kon, who held particular esteem for George Roy Hill’s time-hopping Slaughterhouse-Five (1972) and the works of Terry Gilliam (the influence of the latter is especially noticeable), and his animators kept a tight grip on this film, which swings from anarchy to crisp realism.

Dick) si “ Slaughterhouse-Five ” (ecranizare a unei carti a lui Kurt Vonnegut de catre George Roy Hill), de posibilitatile pe care le aduce SF-ul anilor 70 prin distorsionarea timpului, spatiului si identitatii personajelor ; aici se intilneste Satoshi Kon cu David Cronenberg (cel din “ Videodrome ” si “ ExistenZ ” mai ales).
