From the wonderful Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks to the amusing Who Framed Roger Rabbit, there's no question those films did it better.
Based on a fusion of tales by Daniel Handler (a/k/a Lemony Snicket), the film takes place in a superhistorical Boston that only a hermit from Orange County could imagine: think Bedknobs and Broomsticks London meets Blade Runner�s LA.
Released by Disney in the US, it feels very close in spirit (and 'oi guv'nor' vision of London) as, say, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Mary Poppins.
It's this generation's Bedknobs and Broomsticks--and yes, that's a good thing.
