Yep, you’ve seen it all before with Vincent Price in The Last Man on Earth, Charlton Heston in The Omega Man and, of course, in George A. Romero’s “Dead” trilogy.
Jim realizes his fate and goes through the various stages of grief, depression, and montage-friendly hedonism that will be familiar to anyone who’s seen The Last Man On Earth (or a hundred other sci-fi end-of-the-world castaway yarns).
These early scenes are remarkably similar to the pilot for “The Last Man on Earth.”
But those movies also had Chris Miller and Philip Lord, a writing team of unusual cleverness and heart ( The Lego Movie , The Last Man on Earth ).
