(Perhaps not coincidentally, MacLaine made her screen debut in another film involving a quirky small town and a dead body, Alfred Hitchcock's hilariously genteel black comedy "The Trouble with Harry."
Following the death of his father in an unexplained museum fire, young Hugo is left in the care of a drunken, deadbeat uncle, who himself disappears and turns up dead (his corpse introduced à la The Trouble with Harry ), leaving him alone with nothing but the station’s clocks and a broken robot for company.
Ready or Not is sort of a cross between the tongue-in-cheek horror of yore (Vincent Price’s House of Wax , or Alfred Hitchcock’s The Trouble with Harry ) and today’s political-satire stab-and-slabs ( The Purge franchise, and Tales from the Hood: 2 come to mind) with a touch of slapstick.
Equal parts Castaway, The Trouble With Harry and Weekend at Bernie’s, the surprisingly sweet and celebratory Swiss Army Man marks the feature writing and directing debut of music video directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who bill themselves as “Daniels.”

This is like some Agatha Christie mystery crossed with “Leave it to Beaver,” Gone Girl, Leave Her to Heaven, The Trouble with Harry and an old school Billy Wilder comedy like The Apartment or Some Like It Hot.
