More importantly, the film editing is top-notch, pulling the situation together in near-wordless fashion as we watch the ship's pilot (Radha Mitchell, from High Art ) in screen-filling close-up, calculating her odds of survival.

Stated compactly, and sorry if it spoils a little bit of plot, the final two hours of The Green Mile find Coffey healing three characters—Paul Edgecomb, the warden's terminally ill wife (played my High Art 's luminous Patricia Clarkson), and the pet mouse of a fellow inmate—from various states of disease before he is finally put to death in the electric chair.

The 31-year-old Swedish actor (née Noomi Norén) created such a sensation in Niels Arden Oplev's surprise art hit The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo that she seemed born to play the role of tattooed, pierced, black-leathered, female avenger Lisbeth Salander.
Daughter-of-Steven Sasha Spielberg (2010's " The Kids Are All Right ") has some surprisingly nice moments in the small role of Sally's wealthy friend Zoe; this character could have easily been turned into a snooty, stuck-up terror, but she, too, is treated as kind and down-to-earth.
