Echoes of both Fletch and Trading Places abound, though I hesitate to mention such classics in reference to this dud.

Pitt is the latest in a long line of pretty actors - everyone from Tyrone Power to, most recently, Colin Farrell in "American Outlaws" - to play the legendary robber, here seen alternately as a psychotic killer and weary, bullet-scarred family man approaching both middle age and the end of his life.
However, it does answer a less-than-pressing question: what if The Bourne Identity was turned into a sit-com?

For example, Code Name: The Cleaner borrows heavily from The Bourne Identity .
It is even less effective than the similar scene in the 1994 remake of Miracle On 34th Street.
In only a handful of scenes, Lucy Liu (2007's " Code Name: The Cleaner ") brings such a gritty, mournful quality to Dr. Parker that one fully understands and sympathizes with her instantly.
This story deserved better than the Black version of Encino Man .

It rivals Code Name: The Cleaner (2007) and Witless Protection (2008) as the worst amateur-law-enforcer movie ever made.
She and Steve sail to London, and the film takes an unexpected, largely successful detour into light comedy, evoking shades of “Encino Man” as Diana stumbles wide-eyed through the big city, her rapport with Steve growing closer all the while.
One of his early films, Encino Man, cast him as a thawed caveman coping with life in modern-day California (unfortunately, since it featured Pauly Shore, it was virtually unwatchable).
OK, so we’ve seen fish-out-of-water comedies aplenty in recent years, including Brendan Fraser’s hits, Encino Man and George of the Jungle.
Nevertheless, the man-out-of-time storyline for his new comedy, "Blast from the Past," could have come straight from "Encino Man" except that its reference point seems to be "Pleasantville" instead of "The Flintstones."
In a quasi-reprisal of his role in Encino Man, Brendan Fraser plays a man from the past who's forced to adjust to life in contemporary California.
Fraser, who seems to be making a career of movies in which he plays a lunky but sweet fish out of water (”Encino Man,” ”George of the Jungle,” the forthcoming ”Dudley Do-Right”) is perfect as a gentle but upright epitome of old-fashioned masculinity and innocence.
It’s no “22 Jump Street,” but it should settle in nicely next to the genre’s more modest successes (“Blue Streak,” “Rush Hour”).
Sam Rockwell (1999's "The Green Mile") is lively and magnetic as the kidnapped Knox; Tim Curry is at his slimy best as Roger Corwin; and Tom Green (2000's "Road Trip"), Matt LeBlanc (TV's "Friends"), and Luke Wilson (1999's "Blue Streak") are effective as the gals' love interests.
