The worse news is it turns it into a disaster, complete with dark sorcery by the light of the full moon, various villains running around with flashing knives, a bloody nod to "Countess Dracula," girl-on-girl necrophilia and someone vomiting up a gory eyeball.
Elsewhere, it doesn’t so much dip as dive deep into the waters of exploitation, with soft-core sapphic shower scenes and bloody baths evoking the spectre of Erzsébet Báthory, immortalised in Peter Sasdy’s campy Countess Dracula and Walerian Borowczyk’s Immoral Tales .

Themes
Nightmarishly brutal, set against wintry landscapes and medieval battlements, and rife with hopeless, starving peasants, it’s practically a full-bore horror picture, reminiscent of Game of Thrones , Joan of Arc, and Countess Dracula?the one where the title character, inspired by Elizabeth Bathory, stays youthful by bathing in the blood of young women.
It is arguably the most cringe-inducing awards show scene committed to film since Pia Zadora’s unintentionally hilarious bit in “The Lonely Lady” (1983).
