Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (2018)

All the major DC superheroes are starring in their own films, all but the Teen Titans, so Robin is determined to remedy this situation by getting over his role as a sidekick and becoming a movie star. Thus, with a few madcap ideas and an inspirational song in their hearts, the Teen Titans head to Hollywood to fulfill their dreams.

That last plot point leads to one of the funniest montages in superhero movie history as the writers of “Teen Titans Go!” find a way to blend the internationally-known origin stories of characters like Batman and Superman with a spoof of “ Back to the Future .”
Older references are also checked: Marlon Brando’s role in the 1978 “Superman” is remembered with affection; “Back to the Future” is called on for a quick laugh, as is “The Lion King.”
Pop culture references and parodies are executed brilliantly, including an inspired sequence involving The Lion King and another moment referencing Back to the Future.
Fans will burst out laughing at a Back to the Future -inspired sequence (one that applies the classic Alan Silvestri musical theme), while kids will enjoy the interactions between the Titans.

Accompanied by the score from Back to the Future , they go back and prevent the explosion of Krypton and the death of Bruce Wayne’s parents, among other things.
It's mostly clever, good natured and less cynical and mean-spirited than the similar jokes found in the Deadpool movies (Deadpool himself gets name-checked several times), but it's still a bit repetitive after a while and sometimes substitutes mere references to other movies or franchises for actual jokes.
The Titans constantly confuse him with Deadpool.
With its tongue firmly planted in its cheek, Teen Titans GO! To the Movies is DC’s self-deprecating, meta-aware, kid-friendly Deadpool equivalent.
Directed by Aaron Horvath and Peter Rida Michail, the film feels like an animated, PG-rated Deadpool .
Describing this movie as the kiddie version of “Deadpool” feels totally accurate.
Think of it like “Deadpool” for the middle school set.
After a stretch of darker, monochromatic superhero movies, DC made perhaps its sharpest turn to big-screen comedy with 2018’s Teen Titans Go! to the Movies followed by the lighthearted $1billion blockbuster hit Aquaman .
