Her pale screen and innocent expressions are reminiscent of Keira Knightley’s early work, although the “Pride & Prejudice” star has never taken a role this whimpering or indecisive.
This device certainly isn't new to film, but Hogg's work — more so than Jonah Hill's 2018 film Mid90s , for example — uses the tactic to an impressively poignant effect.
