Set in a near-future world where there is no privacy, ignorance or anonymity, our private memories are recorded and crime almost ceases to exist. In trying to solve a series of unsolved murders, Sal Frieland stumbles onto a young woman who appears to have subverted the system and disappeared. She has no identity, no history and no record. Sal realizes it may not be the end of crime but the beginning. Known only as 'The Girl', Sal must find her before he becomes the next victim.

What critics compared Anon to
This was, after all, the stuff of his debut as both writer and director, 1997's excellent Gattaca , which sought to do for genetic manipulation what Anon hopes to do for Facebook.
Anon stars Clive Owen as a future-noir detective and was directed by Andrew Niccol, the New Zealander who made such stylish, thoughtful and provocative movies as Gattaca and Lord of War.
He wrote the script for The Truman Show and wrote and directed Gattaca, two movies that were both entertaining in their own right and intuitively prescient about the ways in which technology and human nature would converge on some weird/dark places in the future.
The contemporary moral ethicist behind Gattaca and The Truman Show, playing in the halls of Fincher and classic noir, extrapolates creative intrigue from current tech in a not-too-distant (or implausible) future.
Andrew Niccol was an in-demand writer (“The Truman Show”) before making his mark as a director of stylish sci-fi in “Gattaca,” “In Time” “S1m0ne.”
Like Gattaca and In Time , Anon boasts tremendous “world building.”
