For example, an especially gross gag involving Nobby and Sebastian hiding inside an elephant’s vagina (vaguely reminiscent of a 20 year-old gag from “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls”) is bawdy, irreverent sketch comedy stuffed into an ostensible satire – where it absolutely doesn’t belong.

Likewise, “Harry Potter” actor Daniel Radcliffe (who was not involved in the film, as the end titles forcefully broadcast) is made the butt of an overwrought AIDS jokes that isn’t especially funny but is reminiscent of “Ted” filmmaker Seth MacFarlane’s worst tendencies.
Cue spy spoof stuff, which you can trace back to the original jokey “Casino Royale” in 1967 through Austin Powers to last year’s Melissa McCarthy vehicle, “Spy.”
Bond might be imperfectly aristocratic — when Vesper Lynd reads him in Casino Royale, she guesses that he didn't come from money — but he's learned to fake it, with the suits and the sangfroid, in a way Horowitz seemed to feel Elba, despite being suave as hell, could not.

The Brothers Grimsby‘s elongated first-person fight sequences are a warm-up before Ilya Naishuller’s Hardcore Henry, since most of Strong’s missions are captured through his specialized contact lenses.
It’s not a Hardcore Henry ripoff because first person is incorporated into a larger sequence.
(They also utilize a lot of surprisingly cool first-person POV, so it’s fortunate this film opens before Hardcore Henry .)
The first-person sequences also increased my thirst for Hardcore Henry , but partly because the frenzied editing make them a slight headache to comprehend.
This first-person-shooter cinematic method is not particularly innovative; The Brothers Grimsby just did it a couple of months ago, and this movie doesn’t even have the added bonus of Mark Strong being repeatedly pummeled by an erect elephant penis.
