Two sisters on Mexican vacation are trapped in a shark observation cage at the bottom of the ocean, with oxygen running low and great whites circling nearby, they have less than an hour of air left to figure out how to get to the surface.

What critics compared 47 Meters Down to
Desde el momento en que Johannes entra en faena —se agradece que esto suceda rápidamente, a los 20 minutos de comenzar la película—, In the Deep se revela como un survival que se desmarca de anteriores títulos con tiburones, relegando sus apariciones a un segundo plano para potenciar otros elementos igual de aterradores como a atmósfera claustrofóbica o la amenaza ante la inminente falta de oxígeno, lo que la acerca más a títulos como The Descent (Neil Marshall, 2005) o El santuario (Alister Grierson, 2011) que a cualquier hija bastarda del Tiburón de Spielberg.
Animation looks fine, generics dissipate once things go from “tourist trap” to “royally f*&ked” and performances heavily project sharkbait dread (although I SOOOO wanted that The Descent ending).
Honestly, after The Descent, Wolf Creek, Frozen (not that one), Hostel, and Paradise Lost — to name but a few — you might even be forgiven for using the word 'staycation'.
Esto no quiere decir que los ataques de los escualos no estén rodados con gran eficacia y el necesario sentido del espectáculo, gracias a unos convincentes efectos digitales, y a una notable planificación, capaces de dejar para el recuerdo una impactante escena que remite directamente a Pitch Black (David Twohy, 2000) –con ese peligro amenazante tras la oscuridad más profunda–, que ya justifica por sí sola el visionado de la cinta.
Even then, 47 Meters Down struggles to drum up much in the way of scares, save for one moment which is more effective if you haven’t seen 2000’s Pitch Black .
