What critics compared Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones to
Director Christopher Landon (“ Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones ”) and writer Scott Lobdell (of TV’s “X-Men” series) have done just that, paying fond homage to Harold Ramis’s 1993 comedy classic with a tale of a college student who must go through the day she’s murdered, again and again.
Still, as much as director Christopher Landon (the director of the Blum-produced Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones) and writer Scott Lobdell follow a familiar pattern, they also let their heroine become more than just another final girl.
Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones director Christopher Landon (who also penned the scripts for Paranormal Activity 2, 3, and 4) reteams with Blumhouse for Happy Death Day, and working from a script by comic book writer Scott Lobdell, he turns out a lean but entertaining entry in the time loop genre, with a slasher twist.
It's to the credit of director Christopher Landon (2014's " Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones ") and screenwriter Scott Lobdell that they are well aware of this inevitable comparison, and then let loose to have their own darkly comic way with the conceit.
Kudos to director Christopher B. Landon ( Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones , Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse) and writer Scott Lobdell for finding a way to mix things up, macabre wise.
Deftly directed by Christopher Landon, who helmed Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, Happy Death Day keeps a lot of plates spinning.
