The highlights of Mood Indigo include the little snippets of stop motion animation, which is reminiscent of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice; animated objects and crazy set pieces help Gondry’s eccentricity bring to life so even if it is a bit nuts, the imagery is full of imagination.
Instead of puns and mock-erudite references on the printed page, he gives us, inter alia , food that's alive (in stop-motion animation); a tiny man-mouse in a tiny kitchen garden; dancers with stretchable legs; a transparent stretch limo; a little plastic cloud that wafts the lovers around Paris; ice skaters gliding to the gorgeous glissandos of Johnny Hodges and a battalion of typists typing out the tale as it goes in a stylish setting that might be a retrotimes vision of "Modern Times."
