Nobody's going to say that The Angry Birds Movie had to be George Orwell's Animal Farm for the millennial set, despite the presence of evil pigs.

It's the directorial debut of veteran animator Clay Kaytis ("Frozen," ''Tangled") and storyboard artist Fergal Reilly ("Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," ''The Iron Giant"), who are working off a script from "The Simpsons" alum Jon Vitti.
Kaytis served as an animator on Frozen (2013), Wreck-It Ralph (2012), and Chicken Little (2005) while Reilly worked as a storyboard artist on Spider-Man 2 (2004) and The Iron Giant (1999).

Hopefully it will inspire people to check out “Metropolis” (1927), “White Zombie” (1932), “Bonnie and Clyde” (1967), and “Young Frankenstein” (1974).

Assuming the film is a hit, and we get a sequel, let’s try to make The Angry Birds Movie 2 more like Hotel Transylvania and less like The Smurfs.
Angry Birds is done by first time directors Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly, who did art and animation work on gems like Hotel Transylvania and Frozen.
In a similar vein to Hotel Transylvania , the film translates a lot of the timing and movement of 2D animation into a 3D environment, making for visual humour that is fast and funny in all of the right ways.
