What critics compared Love to
Based on a best-selling 2012 novel by Jojo Moyes (she also penned the screenplay), the film will feel familiar to anyone who’s sniffled through Love Story or The Fault in Our Stars .
It seemed to be a strong step forward for Eubank, a low-fi director who thrives on trippy high concept sci-fi (you might have seen his film 2011 Love on a streaming service in the last couple of years) and this project provided him with a genuine budget for the first time in his short directorial career and a shockingly talented cast, the fabulous Kristen Stewart chief amongst them.
Director William Eubank is clearly interested in cosmic ideas of the great unknown; his debut film Love follows an astronaut cut off from the world isolated on a space station circling Earth with his sophomore film, The Signal, revolving around a group of human friends who end up captured and studied by extraterrestrial beings.
And to the credit of director William Eubank ( Love , The Signal ), all the right ingredients seem to be on-hand to make for a cool film.
William Eubank ( The Signal , Love ) brings to life an all new aquatic horror film written by Brian Duffield ( Insurgent , The Babysitter ) and Adam Cozad ( Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit , Tarzan ).
Nothing in cinematographer-turned-director William Eubanks’ filmography ( The Signal , Love ) indicates that he’s capable of such a task.
