Black Dynamite (2009)

This is the story of 1970s African-American action legend Black Dynamite. The Man killed his brother, pumped heroin into local orphanages, and flooded the ghetto with adulterated malt liquor. Black Dynamite was the one hero willing to fight The Man all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House.

Instead, much like “Young Frankenstein,” they allow this unique cast (which include Mykelti Williams, and Salli Richardson) to play every bit of idiotic dialogue and stereotype with a straight face and give them room to extend their talents.
In the tradition of Young Frankenstein , in order for Black Dynamite to goof on its targets, it must become them -- at least in appearances, before descending (or, in some scenes, ascending) to all-out absurdity.
That they’ve succeeded is commendable, there are only a few self-aware nods that distract us, but the result is like watching one of Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg rightly vilified movies such as Epic Movie, Date Movie , or Meet The Spartans, but without as many scenes of characters being kicked in the balls.
Bishop is empathetic to her plight; after all, he was once an orphan himself, and during that entire conversation you might start to wonder if screenwriters Philip Shelby and Tony Mosher are admirers of Black Dynamite.
