A seasoned team of bank robbers, including Gordon Jennings, John Rahway, A.J., and brothers Jake and Jesse Attica successfully complete their latest heist and lead a life of luxury while planning their next job. When Ghost, a former member of their team, is released from prison he convinces the group to strike an armored car carrying $20 million. As the "Takers" carefully plot out their strategy and draw nearer to exacting the grand heist, a reckless police officer inches closer to apprehending the criminals.

But if you haven't seen Heat—or Thief or Manhunter, or even the TV-movie L.A. Takedown, most of which we'd wager Luessenhop has—then Takers can be reasonably satisfying.
Anyway, it's a creed endorsed by the "Takers" creative team, who saw "Heat" and "The Italian Job" and took them - the stories, the shots, the music.
As in the 1969 and 2003 The Italian Job? Freeze, fella, we caught you red-handed.
Or caper, anyway, though there's nothing so whimsical here as in, say, Ocean's Eleven or The Italian Job , the latter of which gets a shout-out in dialogue.
It even tips its hat (or trilby, the headwear of choice for Christensen's character) to The Italian Job.
Everyone walks on eggs around the guy, including Gordon's right hand man John (Paul Walker, "The Fast and the Furious") who's surprised to find Ghost sipping Scotch in his living room one afternoon.
Paul Walker plays Gordon’s second in command; nine years after “The Fast and the Furious’’ made him a star, he remains an actor in search of a personality.
