Milo Boyd, a down-on-his-luck bounty hunter, thinks he's seeing an upswing in fortune when he gets a call to bring in his bail-jumping ex-wife, a reporter named Nicole. Milo considers the job an easy payday, but Nicole quickly escapes to chase a lead on a murder case. The former spouses play an escalating game of one-upmanship, until they suddenly find themselves on the run for their lives.

That these bickering ex-spouses will re-connect is inevitable but his caveman-like courtship behavior and their insipid banter suffers in the hands of screenwriter Sarah Thorp and director Andy Tennant (“Fool’s Gold,” “Sweet Home Alabama”).
Appearances must be kept up, however, and to that end we have director Andy Tennant (Sweet Home Alabama) and screenwriter Sarah Thorp to throw a lot of brittle plot scaffolding around the big draws.
Director Andy Tennant and his two stars, Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston, are all battle-tested veterans of forgettable romantic comedies: Tennant is responsible for Fools Rush In, Sweet Home Alabama, Hitch, and Fool’s Gold; Butler played creeps of different flavors in P.S.
His greatest directorial achievement to date is in not making us hate Drew Barrymore as Cinderella in the likable Ever After (1998); he showed no such restraint as overseer of the worst film choices of Salma Hayek (Fools Rush In, 1997), Jodie Foster ( Anna and The King , 1999), Reese Witherspoon ( Sweet Home Alabama , 2002) and Kate Hudson ( Fool’s Gold , 2008).
He also directed other “good looking people in high concept rom-coms” Fool’s Gold and Sweet Home Alabama.
