Balthazar Blake is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath. Balthazar can't do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler, a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness.

What critics compared The Sorcerer's Apprentice to
The movie seems to be in the vein of other supernatural action films like the Underworld and Resident Evil movies, but maybe more than anything, it seems like a cross of two Nicolas Cage movies, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Season of the Witch, which grossed $63 million and $24 million respectively, which helped to kickstart the end of his career.
Despite everyone’s good intentions, watching him in action makes you feel like Mickey Mouse in “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” desperate for the off switch that is not there.
