A Quiet Place is a change of pace for Krasinski the director, whose previous films—the David Foster Wallace adaptation Brief Interviews With Hideous Men , the indie dramedy The Hollars —were decidedly lacking in sightless CGI monsters.
Krasinski, whose personality in the features he has directed (“The Hollars,” “Brief Interviews with Hideous Men”) has always been a bit fuzzy, now brings himself into focus with the genre brinksmanship of “A Quiet Place.”
His talky adaptation of “Brief Interviews With Hideous Men” and mundane family drama “The Hollars” fell short of indicating the markings of a sophisticated filmmaker.
