It’s also apparent that the study and the filmmakers were hoping their film would be the start of another popular YA fantasy series, ending things on a cliffhanger that, while not as annoying as the one in that first Maze Runner or 2009’s Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant proved to be, is still rather obnoxious and unsatisfactory.
More unlikely is Kevin James' (2015's " Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 ") non-POTUS-like Will Cooper and Jane Krakowski's (2009's " Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant ") First Lady Jane.
Sure there will be inevitable comparisons to those wizarding inhabitants of Scotland's Hogwarts (especially given that the home here is on a Welsh isle) and the list of wannabe Potter -esque franchises that haven't got past the first hurdle is lengthy ( Lemony Snicket , The Golden Compass , Cirque du Freak , Vampire Academy ), but Burton and screenwriter Jane Goldman ( Stardust ) have expertly combined to create a world and story intriguing and engrossing enough to warrant a return journey.
Willem Dafoe (2009's " Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant ") and Samantha Morton (2008's " Synecdoche, New York ") are among the unrecognizable players hidden under digital effects as Na'vi rejects Tars Tarkas and Sola.

From 2007's " The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising " to 2008's " City of Ember " to 2009's " Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant ," finding the next "Harry Potter" franchise has been more difficult than anticipated.
That trail is also littered with failure ( Beautiful Creatures , Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant, I Am Number Four, Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker), so clearly there’s no guarantee.
